From Small Village to Big Dreams
IAS Priya Rani hails from Kurkuri village in Fulwari Sharif, Patna district, Bihar. She grew up in a modest family where traditional mindsets often limited girls' education. Many villagers believed girls didn't need extensive schooling, but Priya's grandfather broke these stereotypes by taking full responsibility for her education. He sent her to Patna for better studies, where she lived in a small rented room while pursuing her education.
Leaving Corporate Career for UPSC
Priya has always been a meritorious student. She completed her BTech in Electrical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Ranchi. After graduation, she secured a job at a prestigious private company in Bangalore with a handsome salary package. However, her heart yearned to serve the nation, which led her to leave her secure corporate job and dedicate herself to UPSC preparation.
This decision wasn't easy, as family and community members weren't initially supportive of her choice. But Priya remained determined to prioritize her dream of public service.

Discipline: The Key to Success
Priya Rani maintained an extremely disciplined routine. She would wake up at 4 AM daily to begin studying and spent most of her day in preparation. She built her foundation on NCERT books, newspapers, and government reports. Economics was her optional subject, which she focused on specifically.
Priya believes in setting small daily goals and consistently working toward them. Her systematic approach and unwavering dedication gradually brought her closer to her dream.
Clearing UPSC on First Attempt
In her very first attempt, Priya Rani achieved All India Rank 69 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023. She secured the IAS cadre, the dream of every UPSC aspirant. Her achievement not only made her family proud but also became an inspiration for her entire village and the state of Bihar.
Her journey demonstrates that with determination, proper support, and disciplined effort, even the most challenging goals can be achieved.
