Priyanka Kumari Sharma (31) is a resident of Hardauri village in the Banka district of Bihar. She was married to Rajeev Singh, and they have two sons, Anand Raj (13) and Nipun Raj (11). Her husband used to work as a laborer in Dilshad Garden, Delhi. Unfortunately, he got addicted to alcohol and died due to kidney failure. Priyanka, a widow, was alone with the responsibility of her children. Priyanka was just 8th pass, but instead of accepting her bad luck, she decided to meet the challenge. She worked as a laborer in a factory in Delhi; and also started a tea stall. But she was unable to earn enough amount to educate her children. So she accepted a job as a laborer in a transport company where she found guidance and financial support from the truck driver Subhash Yadav. He advised Priyanka to learn about truck driving. Priyanka joined truck driving training at Sanjay Gandhi Transport. After the training, she worked as a driver's assistant, learned the necessary skill of driving and basic truck repairs, and obtained a driving license after four years.

Priyanka drove from Delhi to almost all major cities of India, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Bangalore, Assam, and many other places with her truck. Priyanka applied for and had selected along with 70 women. Out of the first 27 women, Priyanka became the first woman bus driver of the UP Government, appointed as the bus driver at Kosambi Bus Depot, UP. She is the first-ever woman bus driver in the UP government; hats off!
